Enhanced rerun of “The Miller’s Daughter”

This is the enhanced rerun version of episode 2×16 The Miller’s Daughter, one of the best episodes of OUAT ever. Robert Carlyle outdoes himself here, giving a nuanced, spellbinding performance (no pun intended) as Rumpelstiltskin falling in love with the young Cora (Rose McGowan) while teaching her how to perform dark magic, and as RumpelGold, believing he is on his deathbed, saying goodbye to Belle and reconciling with Nealfire. (continued, and video, after the jump)

The rerun was broadcast on April 7, 2013, and the episode originally aired on March 10, 2013. The “enhancements” consist of text comments that appear in a purple box on the bottom of the screen. Almost all of the comments, like those in the previous week’s enhanced rerun of Queen of Hearts, were used just to fill in information from earlier episodes that long-time OUAT viewers would most likely already know.

But there was one comment this time that caught my attention. When Prince Henry (King Xavier’s son) first appeared on screen, the text box said, “This is Prince Henry, who will eventually sire Regina.” That seemed to put a damper on the theory (which I had liked very much) that Regina’s father was really Rumpelstiltskin.
