“Red Handed” is the second most popular episode ever, according to this blog’s readers

Once Upon a Time Red at her window, happy to see Peter Looking at the poll results so far, Red Handed is the second most popular episode of the season, with 82 percent of the people who voted in the poll choosing the top rating. Red Handed‘s high rating was surpassed only by Skin Deep, the episode about Belle and Rumpelstiltskin, which got top ratings from 86 percent of the voters. The third most popular episode so far, with top ratings from 75 percent of the voters, was The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, the episode about Graham/the Huntsman that ended with Graham dying in Emma’s arms.

By contrast, only 12 percent of voters gave the top rating to last week’s dwarf-centric episode, Dreamy.

Jamie Dornan is coming back, one way or another

Once Upon a Time The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

Sheriff Graham, looking very dead, at the end of Episode 7 (screencap via rawr)

We saw Graham die — or should I say (cue Twilight Zone music) we saw him appear to die — at the end of episode 7. That doesn’t mean that Jamie Dornan, the actor who played Graham and the Huntsman, is off the show for good.

Even if Graham is really dead (despite my hopes for post-hiatus CPR administered by Dr. Whale and Mr. Gold), there’s always the Huntsman, whose fairytale story may not be over.

This evening, in a tweet, Jamie Dornan seemed to confirm that he will be back. While he didn’t say that exactly, I think he left little room for doubt:

Thank you all for your kind words! Don’t stop watching #onceuponatime . As I’ve said before. ANYTHING can happen in fairytale land ! X

Also, as many people have pointed out, his IMDB page lists him in 21 episodes. (Edited to add 9/9/12: Now his IMDB page is showing only the eight episodes he was in during Season 1. Hmmm ….)

Edited to add 3/12/13: We now have the answer — see this.

Episode 7 The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

The Evil Queen squeezing the Huntsman's heart

In this powerful episode, a character dies just as we were getting to know him. And if we ever had any doubts about whether Regina knew everything, those doubts were laid to rest.

Recap

Kisses have a lot of power. A kiss brought Snow White back to life in the Pilot. A kiss, in this episode, tears a rupture in the wall between the fairytale and modern worlds and brings Graham’s fairytale memories back. Continue reading

Poll: What did you think of Episode 7 “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter”?

Episode 7 “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” will be at the regular time on Sunday evening

Behind the scenes of "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter"

A few scheduling reminders: Episode 7 will be on Sunday night (December 11, 2011) at the regular time. Next week, they’ll be showing a rerun of Episode 3 (Snow Falls). There won’t be any new episodes until January 8, 2012.

I think “The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” is going to be a great stopping point as we go into intermission, a way to (temporarily) end with a bang. I’m psyched because it looks as if this is going to be an exciting episode with several dramatic revelations.

The writers for Episode 7 are Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz, who are the creators and executive producers of the show and, of course, best known previously for their work on LOST. They wrote episodes 1 and 2 of OUAT.

The director is Dave Barrett, who has directed and produced various TV shows, including Cold Case. This is his first time working on OUAT.
