Reminder: No Once Upon a Time episode on December 22, 2013 — show won’t be back until March 9, 2014

Pilot episode snowy mountains

Episode 3×11 Going Home broadcast on Sunday Dec. 15, 2013 was the OUAT winter finale. The show is now on hiatus until March 9, 2014, when it will return with episode 3×12 New York Serenade. The reason there is such a long break this year is that it enables the show to air with fewer of the annoying, random breaks that we’ve seen in the past. When OUAT comes back, it will run straight through till the season finale. What do you think? Do you think the break is too long, or do you think it’s better to do it this way?

More about New York Serenade after the jump.

According to a post on the site TV|Line, the episode title is based on a Bruce Springsteen song. Here’s what Michael Ausiello found out when he talked to the show’s creators:

We asked the Once creators about the midseason premiere, which airs March 9 and is titled “New York City Serenade.” But other than confirming that the Bruce Springsteen fan in him had a hand in coming up with that title, Adam Horowitz would only confirm, “There’s a lot of Emma in that episode, that is for sure.”

  1. Read somewhere that it’s this long due to the winter Olympics but I have yet to find proof of that.

  2. I feel it is a very long break, however it will add more anticipation and more of a buzz and for someone who lives in the uk hopefully this will then speak out to the British Channels for them to pick up the show again, in my opinion channel 5 are making a big mistake, the third season has been by far the most gripping

  3. ok i love peter pan and i am sad about his death i cryied thats how much i like him and its coming back in march i sad about! :(

  4. I’m 51 years old and I have become pretty good at stuff like this and I think it’s a mistake by the network a Christmas sure but the entire winter?
are you Nuts you go 4 months with any show and you run the serious risk of your core audience loosing interest in it.
You might be lucky this time and get away with it but if it happends again in the 2014-2015 season you’ll loose people I wouldn’t take a chance on that if I were you good luck your going to need it.

  5. Hey everyone think of it this way. There would be no OUAT pretty much this whold month anyway. They don’t air shows because of award shows and the super bowl. Last year there was so many interuptions in between episodes that it got really frustrating. i like the fact that we are going to see 12 episodes in a row without any interruptions.
