Jennifer Morrison (Emma) on “Good Morning America”

Jennifer Morrison on "Good Morning America" January 6, 2012

This morning on GMA, Morrison gave a brief description of the upcoming Episode 8 (Desperate Souls), and they showed a short clip (both the description and the clip were slightly spoilery). It was my first glimpse of the episode, as I’ve been avoiding watching the sneak peeks, and I have to say, it looks REALLY good. I think this could turn out to be one of the best episodes yet.

At the end of the interview, the host said that as the father of a young daughter, he “liked the fact that on the show, the women are strong. There’s some very strong female characters.”

Morrison agreed. “Eddy and Adam [the show’s creators],” she said, “really felt strongly about that. To make fairy tales relevant now, you really have to find that empowerment in women, find their stength, and have them have their own identities, not just have them be damsals in distress. As much as there are moments when we are all in distress and do need help, you do also see these women who are really self-assured, and very confident, and very strong. It’s been really fun as an actor to get to do that.”
